In addition to drones, this summer has had another tech wonder in the form of self-balancing scooters, or, as we all love to call them – hoverboards. Despite their recent jump in popularity, many people are still “afraid” of trying them out because of safety concerns. Luckily, hardworking folks at UL released a safety certificate for self-balancing scooters which aims to improve their safety. If you’re wondering which hoverboards are safe, UL 2272 is the name of above-mentioned certificate, and this is the label you have to look for when purchasing one for yourself:

Priced significantly lower (How much is a hoverboard) than its predecessors (T3 and T1), Swagtron T5 is mainly aimed at kids (hoverboards for kids) and people who would like to try out a hoverboard without having to spend a ridiculous amount of money on it. It is UL 2272 certified, meaning you don’t have to worry about it catching on fire or anything like that.

Due to its cheap price, its maximum speed and battery power are not exactly on par with the more expensive models. Still, the 7-mile range on a full charge should be enough for a daily stroll. On the other hand, the top speed of this hoverboard gets up to 7 miles per hour which is pretty close to those of its competitors.
Top speed and battery power aren’t the only limitations Swagtron T5 has. Another one is its maximum carrying load. This beast of a hoverboard has passed 159 rigorous tests and earned itself the famous UL 2272 certificate. As you already might know, that certificate proves this little bugger won’t cause any damage to you or your property by exploding, causing sparks and other dangerous stuff like that. It is equipped with powerful 400W dual motors that provide it with enough juice to climb 18 degrees slopes with ease.
